it seems i have a little bit of low blood pressure
how little (or how much) i don't really know; the doc never said
but some of the symptoms i've been experiencing, hitherto unexplained, now see the light of revelation
eureka!
haha

now i don't think it's very serious, or i'd be dead or something
but finally it seems that i can be unwell with something other than flu
see, i'm not so boring after all!

with low blood pressure, sometimes the blood pressure isn't enough to deliver enough blood to the organs in the body
so the organs don't work too properly
in the bad cases (not mine), the organ can be permanently damaged

like if there isn't enough blood to the brain, i'll feel lightheaded or dizzy
sometimes this happens when i stand up after sitting or lying down
and sometimes it happens in the middle of walking or after standing for very long
(is this usual? i have no idea)
if there isn't enough blood to my heart, then i get the chest pains, or angina

relating to me, i think my low blood pressure is caused by dehydration
'cause i don't drink enough water, apparently
also, i think i also have another form of postural hypotension, where my autonomic nervous system responds wrongly to prolonged standing, and orders my heart to slow and veins to dilate
(i knew i was a bit weird)

so i guess my case isn't too bad
just something wrong with my inherent self

bahh
i'm so weird!

fin*

p.s. does less blood to the brain explain why i'm so lousy at studying?
cos that would help explain a lot! haha

p.p.s. i gave my room a long overdue overhaul
arranging my notes that had gotten mixed up in the course of exams
and re-arranging my room so i can use the dressing table as a study table
and i guess a slight allergy to the dust is what resulted in my little flu
dayum i need to clean up the dust!

indeed it may be rude to call a donkey an ass, but it would be a lie to call it otherwise.

yay i've got two movie dates to watch twilight!!
i'm afraid that's not enough, and i really can't wait for twilight the movie!!!

i know, i know, i've been ragging on some of the characters for not being perfect enough
but i still can't wait to see it on screen

yay yay yay
hope it comes out satisfactorily

and i like the peeps who are playing alice and jasper
they're so cute together
real chemistry, especially from their interviews together

can't wait can't wait can't wait

fin*

p.s. i seriously have nothing else to talk about, huh?
okay, let me try talk about something else...
*coughs* reading the history of malaya right now
not the official one, but one that recounts back to 1880
really interesting
like how the malay people came from central asia around 2000 bc
which is a really long time ago!
and the orang asli came way before that, spreading out even further to australasia and other islands
enough of history? no? want more?
okay...
umm, the mutiny in singapore by the 5th light infantry was in 1915, february, if i'm correct
they were supposed to be guarding the german pows since the WWI was going on

i guess that's enough for now.

twilight twilight twilight!

ok, after watching so many different twilight trailers, all official, fan-made with official cast, and fan-made with preferred cast, perhaps robert pattinson isn't so bad as edward

i'm not saying i completely agree with him 100%, or maybe even beyond 60%, but he's ok
he darn un-photogenic, with darn ugly hair in real life, with a rather peculiar face shape,
but he acted american pretty okay, and pretty intensely too

that said, i think tom sturridge wouldn't have been as bad a choice
he really really has the vampire look down pat, even without trying

and jasper! gosh that jackson rashbone person has such horrible hair

i won't say anymore.
i'll wait till the movie comes out, before making anymore critical comments, because i realise my comments have been on the rather extreme side...
sorry! a flaw i must correct!

but but but i seriously don't think i'll take back my judgment that the actress playing rosalie is the worst actress they could have picked
really ugly and bloated looking- how's she supposed to play the most beautiful woman in the world?

sorry i'm so negative!

WARNING: the male-concentrated content may be too much for some to handle ==>

oh no, forgot to warn steph about twilight spoilers!!!
i'm so sorry!!!

so, for this blog entry, i shall post about more recent twilight developments
like... the movie!!!

i so do not agree with robert pattinson as edward
even from the harry potter movie, i didn't agree with him as cedric
his face is just too weird to me

so i scouted around, and the following are pictures of people who - to me - fit the image of the twilight characters in my mind
the current ages of the actors may not correspond; i'll simply post pictures of them that seem to fit, regardless of when it was taken

not everyone's here, of course
like bella, because i think kristen stewart fits the bella role
or carlisle, simply because i haven't found anybody fitting his description

behold, the chosen-by-fina partial cast of twilight...

name: unknown (unfortunately)
cast as: edward, if his hair wasn't blond
why?: isn't it obvious? the flawless, pale, marble skin, the golden (not deep red) eyes that are characteristic of vampires that drink only animal blood, the piercing gaze, like he's reading your thoughts...
admit it, he is perfect as edward lol
the blond hair could have cast him as carlisle, except for the fact that he lacks the inner calm that carlisle exudes

&
name: tom sturridge
cast as: edward (yep, the first guy's competitor)
why?: well, the first picture make him look human, maybe portraying how he was when he was human, around 1918.
the second picture really makes him look like edward.
someone photoshopped in the bronze hair and golden eyes, and there's the pale skin and strong jawline.
it's so hard to choose! haha

name: gaspard ulliel
cast as: jasper cullen, one of edward's brothers
why?: i don't know exactly why, but jasper always seemed a little rugged, a little lean, but still actor-like handsome.
definitely not an edward face, though.
the actual actor playing jasper seems nice-looking enough, but his hair in that movie is simply crazy!
and nothing in the book says that jasper is supposed to look like a freak, unlike in the movie!
*shudders*

name: colton haynes
cast as: either edward, or emmett cullen, another of edward's two brothers
why?: he was originally up for the role of edward, i think, but his very strong jaw and features just whispers emmett to me. or maybe not; i'm on the fence for this guy, because he seems pretty fitting for edward too, since i don't imagine edward to be as skinny as the first guy.
whaddaya think?

name: henry cavill
cast as: emmett cullen
why?: stephanie meyer said that this guy's the only one she can imagine playing edward, but his age of 27 makes him too old to do so.
i think in some ways he may be right for the role, but somehow his face seems too square for edward. more suited for emmett, who's supposed to be the strong dude of the family

name: alex pettyfer
cast as: i seriously have no idea
why?: he's darn good-looking, though, isn't he? (i'm kinda reminded of fernando torres when he had short hair) i'm torn between jasper, carlisle (maybe, if he were older) or maybe even edward. bahh - doesn't matter; i'm not the casting agent, so i don't have to decide.
yay

anyways, maybe the aforeposted pictures will pique more human interest in the twilight movie.
maybe not.
but looking for pictures is fun!

alice is perfectly cast, imho. she's superbly beautiful, like all other vampires, and so pixie-like and cute in her short spiky hair
rosalie - *huff* what can i say? who else can be more wrong for this role? not as astoundingly beautiful like the book describes her. darn disappointed.

jacob, i think, is adorable, played by taylor lautner
except for the fact that he looks weird in a long wig
i would have liked to see jason momoa (when he was 14 years younger) as jacob, because he's so sunny in his smile.

jason momoa

but unlike taylor lautner, who actually has native american blood, jason's actually hawaiian.
so i don't know. whatever.

p.s. going twilight-crazy!

290th post

i've finished reading breaking dawn, the last of the twilight saga
joy!
and i take it back, maybe jacob and reneesme (i still can't believe how funny that name is) really are right for each other

he's like a werewolf - not the children of the moon, but a shape-shifter who takes the form of wolves because his ancestors had chosen to do so
close to 7 feet tall (that adorable freak!)
so humorous and mostly happy
won't grow older beyond the physical-age of twenty-five that he is now
(unless he can stop phasing into a wolf for a solid period of time - then he ages)
even though in actual human years, he's only 16, 17 years old

she's half-vampire, half-human
and she grows very fast - only 7 years from newborn baby to full maturity
very intelligent, compassionate, and with supernatural abilities of her own
and we know for sure she can live to over 150 years
and since jacob can't grow old unless he wants to... guess they're perfect for each other.

*sigh*

there goes my entire rant on how jacob deserves so much better
because i doubt that in my wildest imagination could i have come up with a better complement to jacob
of course, i haven't seen the mature reneesme yet
i wonder how that will work out...

fin*

p.s. there's the return of the contenders, muay thai fights, in jurong on wednesday
soren (!!!), zach, naruepol, yodsaenklai will all be fighting, among other world class fighters
*shriek!!!*
i truly wanna go!
but the cheapest tickets are at $50.00
unbelievable
i guess even a small gathering of my favourite fighters is too much to hope to see
since when did the contender asia grow so uncontrollably popular?
so much that even with only four of the original 16 fighters present, the tickets are more than half of what i'd paid to watch the finale months ago?
never thought i'd ever begrudge the contenders their fame, but popularity sure has its downsides...

i'm so stuck on the twilight saga by stephanie meyer!!!!
i've devoured two of their books in the last two days, and i'm on track to finish the last one today. i'm still not near the halfway mark, but it's near enough to the end of the series that i'm lamenting the fact that i still want more, and of that there is none.

after i finished the first one, i read reviews of the other ones online, and was genuinely surprised that there were two camps- Team Edward and Team Jacob. i didn't think that there was enough reason to support jacob other than the fact that he was adorable. i mean, understandably, jacob was only 15 in the first novel, little more than a peripheral character who had a crush on bella like any other male in Forks. but after reading new moon (the second book), i'm all for team jacob! and not in the way that i want edward and bella to break up, just that i think the ending does not do him justice.

in edward and bella's case, when reading the series, there is just the sense that this pair is inevitable, that they were made to simply be with each other. they were just so solid together, almost from the very beginning. when edward left bella in new moon, i was devastated; i cried as if it was my own soulmate that i'd lost - so intense were bella's feelings.

but reading about how jacob helped bella heal in that novel, when she did eventually meet up with him, was so heartwarming. he was so right, so natural, so healthy for her. she called him her personal sun, always making her feel better whenever she was in his presence. and i fell in love with jacob. unlike edward and bella, this lacked the sense of inevitability, since what she felt for him could not equal what he feels for her. but you just feel the need to support jacob, because he was part of her soul, a necessary part that gave her happiness. in bella's words,
"his pain was my pain."
"his joy was my joy."

now, cannot be certain if it was said in those exact same words, but you get the gist. jacob is perfect for bella, he's just not what she wants. as much as i like bella being with edward, i miss how she was with jacob (before edward came back).

edward's a century-old soul, so his maturity sometimes seems at odds with bella, who's actually no older than you and i. when they're together, sometimes it's either very hard to tell that the protagonist of the story is just a teenager, which of course doesn't make the story very credible (if you can believe in vampires and werewolves), or the difference in maturity is glaringly obvious. either way, though, i have to admit that they cannot live without each other, that they are too dependent on each other to be separated.

with bella and jacob, however, it's a much more believable story. their relationship appears more like how teenage relationships should be - carefree, fun, happy, with the infrequent squabble that further defines their youth. jacob just seems to bring out the sunnier side of bella. the occasional immaturity feels like it belongs there. i's such a natural part of a youthful relationship, and you just can't help rooting for this one to hold on and survive, even though you know that jacob has no sliver of a chance at all with edward around.

in short, i love jacob, and think that he didn't get the fairytale ending he deserves when stephanie meyer leaves him bella's leftovers (yeah, i cheated a bit by finding out about the ending from reviews). in the end, jacob finds his soulmate in (or imprints on) bella and edward's daughter! now, don't be too alarmed, because in the novel, it's a natural thing, not sick at all, as it's not about carnal desires. and since werewolves don't age as long as they keep phasing back into wolves, jacob will be the best big brother to bella and edward's daughter until she's old enough to resume their relationship at a more mature level.

however, i think it's just not right for jacob! jacob deserves something better! way better! if i had my way, there'd be a separate series for jacob to find this other person. but it's not my series, sadly. =( i guess fanfiction's the only way to go from here...

yess! we're not such losers after all!
(okay, maybe we still are, in a sense...)

dan and i thought that the extent of our prelim-end celebrations
was only the carrefour and spotlight browsing after the disastrous history paper

but then we went to the zoo today!
and then to the singapore science center!
are we cool or what? haha

that meant all of us
(dan, pat, jerrald, keed and i)
hung out for twelve hours straight
about 3 hours spent talking
and the rest totally on our feet

stupendous achievements, comrades! hahaha

keed was crazy, as usual
you know what to expect when you bring him along
(haha jjk!)

keed-kraziness: keed being shipped off- we wish! lol

more keed-kraziness: being eaten by crocodile- again, we wish! lolol

we managed to cover two zoo shows, hippos, giraffes, cheetahs, kangaroos, Inuka the Mad, the playground, dinosaurs, two meals, ice hockey, three hours of speech, and science, all in one day!
we even made a few drawing masterpieces for public display!
(haha- tofu and the eclipse-causing school prowlers were featured)

pat, me, dan- covering kangaroos!

and!- we even made it to "zouk"
(nah, i lied; we didn't...
just that the psychedelic floor of the science centre was so disco-esque)

so-called zouk: the funfunfun floor

okay, so even if we did go out and have fun after prelims
we ain't that cool after all...
haha
now, instead of being loser jc2s, we're just childish jc2s
but it's so fun being kids!
jurong bird park next!
hahaha

i really had fun searching up bushisms
(even his name sounds stupid!)
thought i'd do mccainisms next...
hmm, mccainisms just doesn't seem to have the same ring as bushisms...

"In the 21st century, nations don't invade other nations"
-about Russia's military action against Georgia

hmm, really? what about I-wreck? and yet he said

"Make it a hundred...That would be fine with me."
-to a questioner who asked if he supported President Bush's vision for keeping U.S. troops in Iraq for 50 years

"The role of the vice president is to break ties in the Senate and inquire daily into the health of the president."
- McCain.
('nuff said)

So, we all know the McCains are filthy rich, and spend money like there's no tomorrow, right?
I mean, his wife wore over $220,000 worth of stuff at the RNC.
and mccain accuses obama of being elitist?!
michelle's outfit only costed around $1000
and the obamas own only one house...

When Jay Leno asked how many houses mccain owns, he said this:

"Could I just mention to you, Jay,
that in a moment of seriousness I spent five and a half years in a prison cell.
I didn't have a house, I didn't have a kitchen table, I didn't have a table, I didn't have a chair."
--once again playing the POW card, "Tonight Show" interview, Aug. 25, 2008

and to highlight the shadiness of his dealings, in another interview:

"I think -- I'll have my staff get to you. It's condominiums where -- I'll have them get to you."
--after being asked how many houses he and his wife, Cindy, own, interview with Politico, Las Cruces, N.M., Aug. 20, 2008

"We have a lot of work to do. It's a very hard struggle, particularly given the situation on the Iraq-Pakistan border."
--referring to a border that does not exist, ABC News interview, July 21, 2008

(gee, how's the situation on the US-Afghanistan border?)

"There are neighborhoods in Baghdad where you and I could walk through those neighborhoods today."
--prior to visiting a Baghdad market while being flanked by 22 soldiers, 10 armored Humvees, and two Apache attack helicopters

and lastly, his chauvinistic pig-headed side, which actually seems to propagate a view that women liked being raped and beaten:

"Did you hear the one about the woman who is attacked on the street by a gorilla, beaten senseless, raped repeatedly and left to die? When she finally regains consciousness and tries to speak, her doctor leans over to hear her sigh contently and to feebly ask, 'Where is that marvelous ape?'"
--a joke McCain reportedly told during his first Senate race in 1986
(PIG! DICK!- admittedly, it's in the past, but i'm scolding his past self - ARSEHOLE!)

and just as a treat, here's the funny jon stewart epsiode on sarah palin's gender card

omgosh, jon stewart is the greatest!
(well, i haven't seen what colbert has to say about it yet)
you should go youtube-ing and search his take on the RNC Day 4
the similarities between mccain and bush's speeches are astounding!

priceless george bush!

I know the human being and fish can coexist peacefully.
- US President George W. Bush (September 29, 2000 in Saginaw, Michigan)
(yes! fish can swim!)

I know how hard it is for you to put food on your family
- US President George W. Bush (January 27, 2000 in New Hampshire)
(so that your table can eat them?...)

"It isn't pollution that's harming the environment. It's the impurities in our air and water that are doing it."
- Governor George W. Bush
(right. and that's not paper you're reading from, it's compressed pulp from trees)

"We have a firm commitment to NATO, we are a part of NATO. We have a firm commitment to Europe. We are a part of Europe."
- Governor George W. Bush
(and Singapore has a firm commitment to the Peru-Singapore FTA; we are a part of Peru)

'I heard somebody say, "Now, where's Mandela?" Well, Mandela's dead because Saddam Hussein killed all the Mandelas.'
- US President George W. Bush
(well, nelson mandela just celebrated his 90th birthday not too long ago...)

'I'm looking forward to a good night's sleep on the soil of a friend.'
- on visiting Denmark, Washington D.C., June 29, 2005
(yes, RIP)

i finally got to sit down in front of the television to watch something for more than half an hour!
yesss!!!
haha
watched the second half of "Bridge to Tarabithia"
and cried like i'd lost my marbles when leslie died
leslie shouldn't have died! it's a mistake - a mistake, i tell you!
she and jesse are meant to be together!!
haha

my hands were shaking before the history paper, thanks to red bull
and hallucinations of people screaming in my head made it hard to sleep at 7 am (thanks to red bull)
dan's right; we should sue! haha!

but afterwards was pure, freedom-from-exams heaven

breakfast/lunch at long john's silver at 5
before dan, steph and i looked for a new home for jaws at daiso
and then prom dress hunting!
and then dinner/desert at that chocolate bar - yummy!

heh- 1.40 am and i'm not sleepy
prelims has totally screwed up my sleep cycle
this week i slept in the evening and studied till morning
and now i can't sleep!

saw primary school kids playing ping pong with their wallets
in SAJS on the way home

and just now i dreamed about playing tennis against primary school boys
... using only our hands.

go figure.
7.35 am.
my brain is tired.
i have gone through so many economics essays,
and yet remain no more proficient than before i began.
i'm taking an hour long break.

1. pen ink finishing midway through the first page of lit paper
-_-;
only available pen was the uber thick one but wtv.

2. told pat i'd put up a picture to show how short the shortest person in eight-man rowing usually is compared to his teammates.
would look funnier if the whole team was standing in a line... but you get the picture.
basically every team has an extremely small person to sit at the head of their boat

3. me and dan are such unfortunate souls! our third class photo features only a fraction of each of our faces. mine the worst, especially.
needless to say, i won't be buying that photo...

bleh. bleh bleh.
i hate economics. and i freakin' hate the school.

Monday, August 18, 2008

i really, really, really dislike the new principal.
i really do.
her patronising lack of trust, which has in fact been detrimental to my studies in that i can't get any actual studying done, really gets to me,
especially since i cannot do anything about it.

absolutely nothing. zilch. nada. zero.

i can choose to skip school, devote my time to studying, whilst getting an earful of shit from that particularly notorious tyrant.
or i can go to school dutifully, come home late, be too tired to study, flunk Prelims, and still get an earful of shit, albeit perhaps from a different source.
either way, it's a lose-lose situation.

i freakin' hate this.

what sparked this off, at so late a time as 12.55 in the morning before the school week starts?

besides reading dan's blog post, which i agree with wholeheartedly, i read the letter that the school administration sent to every one of our households for our parents to read and sign.
yes, sign.
like we're bleeding 10-year-olds that need to be supervised in things that have a bearing on our futures.
yea, yea, we know; we get it.
A levels are coming, it's time to get serious about our futures.
we know, because what's at stake is ours.
we don't need power-crazy people demanding that we study the way they prescribe, because we've been doing it for the last 11 years.

and, lest we forget, how can i not mention the fact that most of our papers are freakin' before the one week holiday?
how in the universe are we to study with classes going on, pray tell?
especially with classes going on till 7 in the bleedin' evening?

bah bah bah bah.
the aforementioned "bah"s are there as substitutes to vulgar words that i otherwise would have used.
but i've decided to refrain, and to be a lady despite the "bleedin's" and the "freakin's" that's i've let slip past me.
because it is 1 in the morning, and i shall need to catch some sleep.

one final bah.
good night.

omg! a flash of briliance!
here's the joke that i just came up with:

question: what vehicle does jerrald (the cube) take?

dunnoe?
well, here's the answer: a CUBicle!

AhahahaHAHAhahahHAHAHA!
okay, my creative well is dry again...
Olympics tidbits

1.saw calvin run for singapore yesterday
200m heats, wasn't it?
he didn't come in last! i'm so proud!
bleh, but i forgot to tape it for my bro...

2.was watching swimming 50m freestyle finals
this guy called Cesar from brazil won
from the replay underwater, it looked like he didn't take in any air while swimming
in fact, the commentator said he only took in air once on the blocks, and once during the race
that's it
for 50 m
that is mind-boggling!

3. did ya hear about the Chinese gymnastics controversy?
their women's team won gold
but there are rumours that some of the gymnasts are not old enough
some even say that they have proof that he kexin is only 14
if this is found to be true, then they rightfully should be stripped of their medal
but i hope not!
imagine how much they must have trained for this
and besides, the chinese are generally smaller than caucasians and such
so i hope it's just a case of stunted growth
because i pity those girls!
(in my opinion, kexin actually looks old enough; it's that deng linlin who looks 12!)

4. i love yang yilin's costume for the individual all-round women's gymnastics event!
it's so arsenal-istic, with it's deep red colour and white-coloured sleeves
jiang yuyuan's one wasn't too bad, either
(yilin's age is also disputed, although she definitely looks older than kexin and linlin
in fact, yilin's taller than shawn johnson!)
i'd pity them so much if they do get stripped of gold
cos interviews have shown that yilin last went home more than a year ago and hasn't had a holiday since
even on sundays she goes to the gym to "have fun"
such a sad life!

on another note, i have no idea if my medicine is working for me
sure, my voice is back 75%, but my coughing seems worse!
and i have only 1 1/2 doses of my cough medicine left!
blaaahhh

so... national day was fun!

went up to the 58th floor of UOB plaza to Dan's dad's office to watch fireworks
and eat burger king with dan's bro and mum, thanks to dan's dad
view was fab
we could see the entire spectacle,
including the huge lit-up man-made singapore flag at the padang
so cool!

then we went off exploring, being the 18 and not-quite-18 year olds we are
(me- i'm the only one not 18)
dan was eager to show her IC to anyone who cared to ask
just 'cause she can
haha

i was a little more pensive
few more months to go; i'm not quite there yet
although... can't think of why they'd worry
it's not like i'd even want to do anything i'm not supposed to
because i can't... like duh!

anyways, went out for some after dinner dining
sat on high stools at a high table, kinda isolated from everyone else
felt kinda cool
(although, there were kids running around...)
dan and steph, being 18, ordered the more popularly known 18 year old drinks
like singapore sling (patriotic!), SOTB (don't ask) and bloody mary
while i, being who i am, opted for safer stuff
(mocktails)
(which are called "virgin ___", for obvious reasons)
and a chocolate cake!

i was totally not expecting to find the virgin mary to taste all savoury and spicy!
such a surprise
i mean, i read about how people make their own and drink it
and watch them do it in tv shows and movies
so i thought, hmm, maybe the non-alcoholic one will taste nice...
wrong! utterly wrong!
tastes like salsa!
which wouldn't have been so bad if i'd had bread to dip into the drink
but it burns your throat like only tobasco can
who in the world likes drinking tobasco?!

the infernal marys, virgin and bloody both

dan had some of that infernal virgin mary
which i would think accounted for her vomiting all over
cos i nearly vomited a few times too

(and now, i think because of that +cake+virgin margarita,
i've lost my voice!)

surprisingly, steph looked and felt fine
even with that bloody mary
i guess me and dan are the younger ones (figuratively speaking)
haha

the weird army dude who served us was so freakin' irritating
always coming to our table necessarily
and talking too much
and asking to get our table when the other dude already got it
trying too hard
i have no idea if it's flirting [with... steph (; ]
but it was sure as hell irritating

but all in all, a fun night!
haha

fina*
who will be forever 17 =)

life's lessons

a virgin margarita teaches you
that lime doesn't flow with chocolate fudge cake
a virgin mary teaches you
that tobasco and pepper don't belong in a drink
and a high office floor teaches you
that pressure isn't your ears' best friend

did i mention arsenal beat real madrid last night?

did i mention i've had two hours of sleep since then?
ran my 2.4km run?
stayed in school till 4.30?

did i mention that the econs teacher's putting me in peer tutoring?
after which i went for econs tuition?
three hours, ending at 9.30?

did i mention that i am finally on my way to getting a silver napfa badge?

arsenal lost last night against juventus
but, boy, am i still so proud of them!

you see, this is because they played an almost under-21 side against juventus
and the loss was only due to trezeguet's goal, which was off-side anyways, but was not justly ruled as such... (bloody linesman!)

but the kids that played for arsenal were great!
aaron ramsey is only 17
and Jack Wilshere is only bleedin' 16 years old!
fabregas, clichy, almunia all didn't play...
dennilson did, and he's only 20
and carlos vela's only 19!
even johan djourou's still only 21!

so of course i'd be super-duper proud of arsenal!
even though they appear to have little chance of retaining the Emirates Cup this year...
i still love 'em!

fina*

and yes, i am still wearing the arsenal jacket everywhere i go!

check out this janet jackson music vid, feedback
you don't need to watch the whole video; just from 2:16 to 3:20
cos the dance is wicked!
not just the moves, but the whole coordination thing by the dudes in black
and you know i have a thing for synchronization and stuff

also, another one of my favouritest singers to see dance is ciara
she just reminds me so much of michael jackson
the dancing, i mean, not the looks (thank god)

fina*

(weirdly enough, i find the dudes in black kinda hot...
i'm a weirdo! must be my horse-rat-monky peronality :x)

starting a new post barely minutes after my last one
because i loved Rapture!

i liked most of the dances
most of them were nice to watch
and Steph's rock ballet was so cool!
she's so obviously a good ballerina and so nice to watch
especially when she goes en pointe, or does attitude turns or arabesques
(or wtv those ballet techniques and terms are called- they all look great!)
go steph!!!

and amanda's hip hop one was cool too
especially liked the moves and energy!

and the kids!! the little cutie kids!
they danced so well!
i got goosebumps seeing the little ones dance hip hop so coolly and gansta-ly

even crescent girls' dance was super nice to watch
cos their choreography and coordination was so cool to watch

but but but
my favouritest dance of all
(and it's so traitorous of me to say this)
was Republic Polytechnic's hip hop dance
oh my word! they breakdanced to unconventionally orchestra-type music
and they were so good!
especially this guy in front, a bit to the left from the audience's POV
just watched him almost the entire time that he was dancing

when i watch dances, my eyes just automatically search amongst the dancers for the one i think is the best
and i just latch on and rarely let go, except to compare to other dancers
of course, in the doing that, i lose a bit of the sense of totality of the dance

however, i can review the wholeness of the dances from the video when i buy it
but to watch the dancers live, see the fluidity and energy of their movements up close
is so, so enjoyable

love rapture! will definitely buy the cd

go steph!
and i get what you mean by that other person's dance
now it's much easier to understand why you feel the way you do about that dance and dancer
i think people watching closely (and even those who didn't) can tell that the dance felt wrong

fina* loves rapture!
yay! for about three days this week i thought that my birth date's position near the end of the year meant i was born in the year of the Rat in the Chinese zodiac.

but turns out that i'm not! yess!!!
i'm still a horse!
i <3 horses!

haha
if everybody in my jc cohort was born in 1990, then our entire cohort would be governed by the element Fire, associated element Yang Metal, combination element Earth,
and have the following characteristics:
  • Dynamic, Humanitarian, Enterprising, Adventurous, Restless
  • Competitive, Leadership Skills, Strong, Single-minded, Loves a good laugh
not too bad for a bunch of friends.
perhaps the best of the lot!
haha

even almost all the guys born the year before in my class have the same characteristics
cos they're Fire
so it's kinda cool =)

not that i believe wholeheartedly in this thing, although it's got some things right
but it's for some light-hearted fun

okay, from this point on, i shall attempt to delve deeper into my Chinese zodiac...

Wiki says that the Chinese equivalent to my Sagittarian horoscope is the Rat
whose lunar month is in December
and it's called my inner animal since it follows the months

this is uber weird, cos Rats are supposed to avoid Horses
so am i supposed to avoid myself?
haha

as Wiki puts it: The rat may just be too calculating, dictatorial and possessive for the free-spirited and independent horse. A relationship with a rat can potentially break down the horse's free-spirit and cause rage in the rat - as neither will be willing to yield to the other. Rats and Horses will attract each other like no other.

so i attract myself, but i will break down my own spirit while making myself angry?
hmm... sounds about right...
haha
maybe...

now, this inner animal is supposed to dictate my love life and inner self
and my element in that month is Water, season Winter
which is so opposite the Fire and Summer that Horses are supposed to be?

i'm so confused
and perhaps i have reason to be
i mean, look at the conflict between my inner and outer self
i'm practically schizophrenic!
lol

so i searched further, and my secret animal,
that is, the one that follows my time of birth and is supposed to be the truest representation of myself,
is the Monkey
which, together with the Rat, is one of the power signs

still confusing?
in a nutshell, i shall display characteristics of Horses, Rats and Monkeys below,
so we can compare what my outer, inner, and secret selfs are

Horse: (Yang, 3rd Trine, Fixed Element Fire): Cheerful, popular, quick-witted, changeable, earthy, perceptive, talkative, agile mentally and physically, magnetic, intelligent, astute, flexible, open-minded. Can be fickle, anxious, rude, gullible, stubborn, lack stability and perseverance.

Rat: (Yang, 1st Trine, Fixed Element Water): Forthright, disciplined, systematic, meticulous, charismatic, hardworking, industrious, charming, eloquent, sociable, shrewd. Can be manipulative, vindictive, mendacious, venal, selfish, obstinate, critical, over-ambitious, ruthless, intolerant, scheming.

Monkey: (Yang, 1st Trine, Fixed Element Metal): Inventor, motivator, improviser, quick-witted, inquisitive, flexible, innovative, problem solver, self-assured, sociable, polite, dignified, competitive, objective, factual, intellectual. Can be egotistical, vain, selfish, reckless, snobbish, deceptive, cunning, jealous, suspicious.

see how confused i'm supposed to be?
on the one hand, i'm rude,
on the other i am charming
and still on a third hand (if i had one), i'm polite
weird?
and i haven't even counted my Sagittarian horoscope yet!

whatever, it's just for fun
and i probably got some stuff wrong in my research anyways
so if anyone can enlighten me, please do!

fina**

p.s. i must say, my inner animal doesn't flatter myself at all
i now officially hate my inner self!

what a rollercoaster week it was!

I wore something "traditional" to school on monday for racial harmony day. Pat and i were so scared of being late (and with great reason; it was 7.40 when we rolled in), that we told the cab driver to stop at the little "alley" before the foyer and sneaked into school. In the end, though, turned out that nobody was prowling at the foyer anyways.

Not that many people wore costumes, which weirded me out at first, but i grew comfy soon enough. About eight people in class wore costumes (nine if you plus dan!); a HUGE number, if you compare us to other classes
=)

Pat wore a yukata! which nobody else in school wore - a pretty red flowered one. Rachel wore a punjabi pant suit, i think. Neha wore a chinese-looking top, as did Nadrah, who also brought malay costumes for Debbie, Victoria and Cheryl. (and Dan went irish in her clover jacket!)

Metold the dad to pick me up so i wouldn't have to be seen in public wearing what i did (which was why i cabbed to school in the first place), but he told me to meet him in bugis instead, defeating the purpose entirely. so there i was, walking around bugis in shiny satiny material on a school day. people stared, but whatever. cos they're just jealous
sez'me

Thursday was my pms day, the worst in eighteen years (six, if you want to be technical about it). Chain of events:
cried in the morning over the holocaust
felt fine at breakfast
was super spitting mad at randhir
beat up jeremy before pe
and cried right after pe
and then met steph who came for dance
and had some happy tea (or soyabean milk)
depressed by the time tuition rolled about

all that was pms in a nutshell. but but but! then i got my arsenal jacket and bottle, which i realized had arrived only after i'd finished showering at home. yay yay yay super yay! only took a week for the order to come! way to go arsenal shopping! and so, i was immensely delirious at the end of the night, and went to sleep with a smile still plastered across my face (which is creepy if you think about it, but who cares? i've got arsenal!)

I wore the beautiful piece of arsenal merchandise almost the entire day in school, and while visiting keed in the hospital, and on the way home. I just kept looking for a reason to keep it on, as well as to drink water from my pink arsenal bottle.
loves arsenal!

fabregas wearing the jacket that now i too have!

and my pink bottle!

I must say, that despite feeling a bit uncomfortable at first (as one is wont to feel while in a hospital, facing a friend who was still feeling dizzy and nausea and pain from the operation), visiting keed turned out to be kinda fun! we just stood around and chatted with the rock, after giving him the goodies pat and i shopped around hdb hub for, before heading upstairs for a bit of a visit with dan's mum, and then coming back down to see keed again.

of course, fina just had to create another episode to add to the teh ping and bandung chronicles - this time, with the reflection of a sandwich dispensing machine. uggh, i'm so disgustingly embarrassing to myself! although, i was able to share the honour of hosting another embarrassing episode involving a man, mt alvernia hospital, and a bright yellow sign with pat. so i wasn't alone - mwa-hahaha!

fina*

p.s. i'm just trying out a new system of posting in full sentences and in actual paragraphs. just wanted to feel a leetle teeny weeny bit grown up right now at three in the morning. not succeeding.

and it cracks me up every time cos it's so unexpected!

my first (and only) day in school on friday went by ok
although i was whining the entire time about wanting to go home
no, i wasn't sick...
unless you count school as something legitimate to be sick of
haha

anyways, first thing in the morning, i did the HAPI test
and somehow made myself look suicidal
especially when they asked what signs of stress happen to me
and i circled everything except being overemotional

mr soh wasn't in school for lesson
so yay!
and then we went to the fourth floor staircase to hang around and try to do lit annotations
well, everybody else did
i just sat on the floor
and did this:

"i hate BOEY!"
"i hate lit!"
"i hate boey!"
"boey sucks!"

and you get the point

went for late lunch/early dinner with pat, jerrald and joel at kfc
for once they didn't mess up my order
a rare occasion

BUT!

yesterday, when i was buying dinner at kfc for me and bro after tuition
they messed up again!
like, the girl had packed everything except my pepsi
she already filled the cup with pepsi, but left it there on the dispenser
then she packed my lemonade and gave it to me, expecting me to go away
so i stood there,
while she took the other person's order
and proceeded to pack that person's stuff!
she looked at me questioningly when she noticed me still there

turns out she forgot my order
like all the other kfcs in singapore
be they in kallang, woodlands or potong pasir
wth?
i should have complained
i really should
but i'm not the type
i will next time!

on a good, better - the best! - note, i'm getting arsenal's official warm up jacket for my birthday!
wooooohoooooo!!!
rejoice!!!!!
although, i did accidentally order two online
a careless mistake that should have cost me $340 overall
but the great arsenal customer service staff got my message to cancel one order
and cancelled it barely hours afterwards
i love arsenal!!

fina*

p.s. why do i have such bad luck with kfc?!

Sunday, July 13, 2008

the past few days have been horrible

i spent thursday about as near to blind as humanly possible
haha
cos my contacts were seriously stinging my eyes before assembly
so i had to take them both off
plus, my specs broke the night before
the only way i could read was to literally hold the paper 10 cm from my eyes
i must have looked seriously funny

the next day came the first in a series of stomach/ gastric flu days
couldn't stand it
even after i got home, i just lay on the bed, writhing around like a worm
something that's continuing till even now
gahh

and i had to miss tuition on saturday because of that
so that's money and opportunity wasted

i'm gonna go lie down again
FINA World Diving Series

(haha i watched it on tv; their flag is really the word "FINA"!)

omg omg omg omg omg

i seriously felt a super soft spot for aliaksandr hleb cos he looked so frail, and nice
but he's such a bitch!
such a super big effing beeyatch!

uuuggghhhh!!!!
he's been making it sooo obvious that he want to move to barcelona
(yea right, like he'd be able to play there;
everybody there's better than him, i'd think)

as if that wasn't insult enough, he's lashed out at wenger and fabregas!
he said fabregas was a "more selfish" player than he was, with his willingness to shoot when he has an opportunity
that's selfishness??!!
like, hello!
fabregas has scored more goals than hleb has
and that has helped the team!
it's not a "problem", like hleb said it was!
it's players who won't shoot - that's the bloody problem!

aarrrggghhhh!
darn, have i misjudged hleb or what?
i overestimated his character by a whole damn lot!

as you can see, i am disappointed.
super disappointed!

the traitor on the left! along with the other dude, flamini, who's also just abandoned arsenal!

finishing up my sgc. wish me luck!

yea, bowling was fun!!!

met dan, pat and jerr
and went skating and bowling at kallang
how fortunate that both were available at kallang!
and, if we had wanted to, we could have watched a movie
but the dark knight only comes out on the extremely late date of 17th july
darn

i wanna go bowling again!
i am super lousy, the three of them can attest to that
haha
but it's all in good fun

bowlinggg!!!!!

and i hate schoooollllll!!!!!

wow, typing in extra, unnecessary letters is funnnn!!!!

haha
ok
will try to do a bit of my acjc paper
although i can't find the compre anywhere...

went to the arsenal website today
so far, the only new member that i saw in the "players" category is ramsey
a player that signed in june 2008 from cardiff city

the new arsenal kit:

looks soooo different form their usual kind
instead of a white sleeve on a red shirt,
they've decided to go with a white stripe on both sleeves...
doesn't look so impressive just lying flat like that,
but fabregas makes it look ok:

so maybe it only looks good on a person
on which case, on my wishlist for my birthday...
...is the ladies' home kit!
i didn't know they made them in ladies' sizes
but i'm glad they do!
my second splurge when i get my salary after A's
(besides a dslr camera - if i do get one)
will be the kit!

(40 pounds)

plus a few other things
like:
(35 pounds)

(now only 15 pounds! down from 35)

a hoodie!
can't decide between the two, though i'm leaning towards the second one

(24 pounds, down from 30 pounds)

and a watch!
my pattern is a watch every year, so maybe this will be it

hopefully, they'll have come out with new designs by the end of this year

aaannndddd
i hope arsenal's new away kit comes out nicely
hopefully even nicer than the home one
so i have a nicer one to buy!
gaaaccckkkk! i really want these things!

but i probably won't get them all
or maybe not even one
i'm notoriously too lazy to order things online
maybe i'll buy a knock-off...

(haha)
...fina

p.s. i crossed the border over to the liverpool webbie
to see their ladies' collection
and i'm ashamed to say that some of their tops are prettier than other arsenal ones
=(
and their ladies' jacket is nice! in a creamy white and red

i'm such a traitor!! T_T

darn, school's starting again tomorrow
now that it's just a few hours away,
what's going through my mind is what i should have done to enjoy my holiday best

like go to the beach!
man, if "unfulfilled dream" had a name, it'd be going to the beach!
i should have just gone alone!
but i could hardly muster up the energy to wake up in the morning
everyday, i wake up at 6.30, pray, and go back to sleep
... or watch friends!
haha

something else i should have done: shopping!
not for clothes, though i'd have enjoyed that very much
it's just that i've been wanting to go to borders or kinokuniya
perhaps pick up a football magazine, or maybe another pretty notebook
but i didn't =(
lethargy has been winning it's battle against me lately

although, i did manage to do some late night shopping at mustafa centre yesterday
late as in 11 pm
so fun!
a trip there always consists of me taking anything i want and putting it in the cart
and believe me you, mustafa has a ginormous variety of goodies
stuff you can't find at ntuc or cold storage!
yesterday, though, restraint came in the form of my sister
many of the things i wanted, like the la va quiri cheese cubes, or chocolate milk, or dark chocolate gelare ice cream, were taken out of the cart and returned to their places
well, take pity on my parents' wallets

i did get my two cartons of mac and cheese, and sara lee strawberry cheesecake,
and aloe vera drink, and choc chip cookie dough ice cream,
and bickford's creamy soda, and pop tarts,
and... i'm salivating already! haha
so maybe putting those things back in the cart wasn't such a great loss...

hahah
i'm going off to enjoy the remnants of my holiday
all twelve hours of it
see ya!

more pictures from the euro 08 final where spain won 1-0 on torres' goal:

spain team's jubilation contrasting with the dejected germans (in this case, their captain, ballack)

fabregas lifting the trophy after having a go at kissing it

fernando torres, the match winner, lifting the trophy

the spanish team celebrating!!!!

yep, that should be it for today.
as for irritated americans who think soccer is a game for european fags:
football is played in every continent except yours. with such a lousy USA team, it's no wonder.

fina*!!!!!!!

yes, yes, YES!!!
spain won!!!
i am sooooo happpiiieeeee!!!!!!! (deliberate misspelling - of course)

fabregas made the starting XI
so that started the game well =)

torres and casillas (goalkeeper-captain) celebrating hard

things i noticed during the game:

#1. fernando torres' side parting looks nice!
yep, the dreadful headband was missing
and he parted his hair on the side
so he looked more like the fernando torres that i used to like

torres celebrating his goal

#2. the german chancellor's bad-mood when shaking the hand of spanish players
she totally didn't look happy
the least she could do was try to smile
but her face held no discernible goodwill
what a bad sport!

#3. fabregas did an oh-so-funny and embarrassing dance while celebrating
i just couldn't help but laugh!
he was waving his arms while jumping side to side
he earned it, though!

#4. sad faces of the german players
especially michael ballack!
poor guy bled a lot from a cut on his right eyebrow
and he (along with every other german there) looked so out-of-sorts and dejected and stunned when they lost
and yet, michael ballack was personable with the big shots who shook his hand
smiling all the while
(as you can tell, i have a soft spot for him too)

#5. ... can't really think of much more
i was drifting into sleep by the end of the first half, and woke up only in the 75th minute
so i missed fabregas' substitution, and who-knows what else
am so sleepy

good night!

the spain team (fabregas - bottom second from right)
(and i admit - david silva isn't so good looking;
would've preferred david villa playing)
(and torres looks so unglam in this shot!)

finananananananananannanananana-spainwon!!!!
hey all!!!
am i glad to say that BT2s are over or what!
(and that isn't a question, by the way)
of course, it's aftermath will bite me in the butt later on,
but in the meanwhile, i might as well just relax and take it easy

i've spent the weekend reading,
and have thus far completed three chick lit books
and i have enjoyed almost every minute of it
(i certainly did not enjoy reading about the heroine getting thrown into jail,
or being slandered in the national press, though)
just living the high life, you know

interestingly,
i visited my grandparents' house today
to find that their surrounding walls and gates have been painted two colours
that are not unlike my blog colours now
watered-down green and pale blue-green
okay, so that isn't really interesting, but that's what i've been doing this weekend
kinda boring

also, i realise that working in a bookshop isn't all fun and games
especially when they ask for books that you have no idea about,
because you don't really work there
i do like it fine being the cashier, though,
except when they ask such questions
but people who visit the bookshop generally are patient people,
so i've never had a hard time dealing with a customer

am hoping that the remaining three days of my holiday are more relaxing
maybe i'll go to the beach one of these days
alone? i've nobody to go with, that's for sure

EURO FINALS ARE STARTING IN 2 HOURS!!!!
viva la espana!!!

España será victoriosa!!!
(Spain will be victorious!)

Fabregas golpeará extremo con el pie!!
(Supposed to be "Fabregas will kick butt", but it came out
"Fabregas will strike end with the foot" - close enough, i suppose :p )

i'll try to find things to do till then
finanana dice adiós!

p.s. Spain is such a good-looking team!
fernando torres, cesc fabregas, xabi alonso, david villa, david silva, etc...
plus, wimbledon lawn championships are going on
more goodies to watch!

p.p.s.
i want to be one of the guys who stand behind the goalposts and take pictures!
especially when fabregas is playing!

Monday, June 23, 2008

oh no! i can't believe Russia beat Holland!
more woe! cos i generally feel goodwill towards the Dutch side
but, never fear, Spain are still in the game
all the way, spain!

decided not to go for the 3 o'clock tuition today
thought i'd go for the 6.30 one, but i realise my awesomely bad grasp of theory right now is a more pressing issue.
you can't answer questions if you don't have any knowledge, can you?
right.

here's a funny picture of that spain match against italy, where they won on penalties

see?
haha their individual expressions, and the collective effect of it, are so comical!

and here's another, of cesc celebrating his winning penalty goal against italy
haha i love that kid
but you can never poke too much fun at the people you like!

haha
ok
back to studying

see ya'll

I have been too lazy to post lately

i got bed bug-bites in Kuantan!
WOE! WOE! WOE!
i counted around 23 bites around my right wrist, and around 10 bites on my left upper arm
two bites on left leg, and four bites on right
sucks as hell
it was super, super, super itchy during that first week

and then i got home, and i got even worse bites from some unknown freaky thing
it left a few bright red spots around my legs
and two particularly stand-out purple swells on my right leg
it's gone down since
-thank God-

not to mention, i got sore eyes the morning that we left
around 3.00 am, i noticed my red-ish eyes
and my eyes are still red now
maybe i should go to the doctor...

my red eye- shiny because of my specs- disgusting!

the beach at Kuantan was fun
we picnicked there when my parents went shopping
just me, sister and cousin
and spent the rest of the day there playing with starfishes and sand
real live starfish- kept trying to crawl away!

this shot of my sister and cousin looks nice

but the beach at Mersing was... scary
although it looked nice, it was full of crabs larger than the hermit ones at Kuantan

empty Mersing beach on a weekday

my sister and cousin with the kite that failed to take off

on our last day, we went to Kota Tinggi waterfalls at my suggestion
and it was fun!
rocks were super slippery, water super cold, water fell painfully on our backs
but it was fun
my cousin and me (front)

and now, bowling National Age Group championships are going on
can't say i don't feel embarrassed being there
team singapore players present and all
i don't even have my own shoes and ball!
but it's something for the sgc, so...
wish me luck!

leaving for Malaysia in approx. 1.75 hours
hope i get to see beautiful, sunny, CLEAN beaches!
see yaz =)

fun fun fun!
the picnic, i mean.

and when we got there, something really cool happened.
two airplanes flew to form a heart-shaped cloud thingie!

lucky to catch it =)

i didn't bring a change of clothes though...
cos that garbage pick-up session at pasir ris beach scared me out of entering the sea ever
but the beach at east coast, especially the slightly secluded part we went to, was super clean!
boy, did i regret it

food was aplenty, thanks to syaz, as was chips, thanks to diana
couldn't stop eating...
:p

fina*

p.s. going to kuantan next week; leaving sunday
yay! more beach!!!!

p.p.s. diana and syaz: go to the private album on my friendster; other pictures are there =)

i am now officially addicted to deviantart.com
why? it's not like i contribute any art there
but the photographs there are to die for!
don't believe me? just go to the site, click photography in the categories browser
and feast your eyes!

just looking at the photographs makes me smile
especially the astrophotography
=)
even the non-photographs...
the manipulated pieces, the vectors - all the digital art!
they're all so talented!
haha
omgoodness, i'm turning green around the ears already from jealousy
a few more days, and my entire head will be green!
not a bad colour, though, i say...

tmr is picnic day!
yay!

p.s. see, it IS more than the last post!
