huh second post of the day
i guess i set the ball rolling with that one

so arsenal played another match today, against portsmouth
and finally won!!!
weee!!!!
1-0, not a big margin, but still relieving

bendtner was flailing his arms and giving the ball away so frequently throught the match, i just have no idea what he's doing there
it's been so long, or so it seems, since an actual striker scored a goal for arsenal in the bpl
really
in the last match, it was midfielder dennilson and diaby that scored goals
and just now, it was gallas- a bleeding defender!
when's arsene going to buy a phenomenal striker? like a christiano ronaldo, or a fernando torres, or a past-era ronaldo!

so word's out that arsene's looking to buy xabi alonso
which i know will be such a blow to dan
believe me, if i supported liverpool, i would never let loose my grip on xabi
the last time round, arsene didn't want to pay the 17 million pounds that liverpool wanted
they offered 14 million instead
hopefully this time round an actual deal will be drawn out

you know what i think arsenal needs?
two sagnas and two clichys in the back
at least one fabrgeas in the center
and at least one henry out front
and someone decent for goalkeeper
haha
fina's fantasy team
why not throw in an aaron ramsey to keep the team looking pretty?

did you see the save sagna made last friday during the villa game?
phenomenal!
sagna's really indispensible nowadays; the only one who seems to know what to do in the back four
almunia the keeper was already beaten at the goalpost- meaning he was in one area in front of the goal, while the ball was heading another and had passed him already
and just at the line, the all-important line that determines a goal, sagna does this amazingly acrobatic kick backwards into the air to clear the ball
supersaver it was
he's an angel

arsenal, buy someone soon! please!

midnight walks... the last to leave the bar... counterfeit arsenal jersey... fabregas pin-up...

=================================================

words to describe my holiday?
i only need one: eventful
although i didn't get to go to the themepark, cos i was the only one game enough, i still had fun

there's always shopping to be done
i bought a few things, mainly the cheaper items
like the jersey! this season's jersey!
and i've worn it out once already!
and a few bags, a few pairs of shoes, mascara, mac blusher...
just the normal stuff

there's one thing different about shopping in malaysia compared to singapore
it's so fun pretending you have loads of money in your bank account (read: i have none haha)
and going into guess and braun buffel and all that as if you really intend to buy something
i can't really do that in singapore; i'm not brave enough on home turf
but there -ahaha!- it's a blank slate
anything goes!

so it appears i have been a little (or a lot) lazy these past few days to post anything
i had to contend with fever and flu for the first two and last two nights of the trip
but that's okay; i didn't prevent any major outings from taking place

i watched spirited away with pat and dan at dan's house the day after i got back
her mum bought us fabulous tasting chicken rice

and yesterday was spent cycling (and teaching my sis how to do so) at east coast park
so fun
and we're doing it again on january first!

i really haven't enjoyed enough of my holidays to start work yet
but i have to earn some money somehow
so i sent in my application for my old job yesterday
hope i really get it! the deadline's on 1st jan

twilighting with pat soon
can't wait! i so want to dissect the story again...

tomorrow's gym and movie day with sis
hope we wake up on time...
i've been going to sleep at 4.30 am these last few days
and waking up at the appalling time of 1 pm...

my dad wants me to sign up for driving lessons only after we've moved!
that's so far away!...
i want a license ASAP just so i can start cruising around singapore
and not have to worry about missing the last bus and all that!

ah well. every umbrella's got a different handle. (really? i could have sworn my umbrella has sister umbrellas all with the same handle)

fin*

p.s. call me out anytime for anything!
i want to spend my last moments of freedom doing fun stuff

okay, final post before i'm off
i don't know why i've been blogging sooo much lately
maybe to make up for not blogging again till next thursday

so i managed to make through the night without sleeping
changed the blogskin and song
(i thought it was just another christmas song, until i realised that the singer understood me:
what the heck is a partridge, and i do think it's a "terrible [gift] to get" haha)
woke up the whole family on time
got to eat my first and final mega mcgriddles breakfast
and soon i'll be on my way, with a headache, runny nose and heavy eyelids
yup

totally holiday mood
haha
but i've brought five books with me
so all will be well

till next time
and -only read this on the 25th- merry christmas!

fin*
on a rare spontaneous whim, my parents have decided to leave for vacation one day early
yup
just today

so now i'm on a scramble to wash all the clothes i'd meant to bring with me but hadn't packed
and we don't have a room to stay in as of yet
just gonna leave it up to fate (haha) if there're any hotel rooms available in kl
if not, well, there's always my mother's many malaysian relatives

i guess i'd better change my blogskin to the christmas one by tonight
probably after i've finished packing and all
cos i usually never go to sleep anyways, before travelling
just so that i can be the one to wake everyone up on time
i can always sleep during the car ride

so i'll see ya'll after christmas then
!!!! (= !!!!

my brother got second in the 110m hurdles at the asean university games
against a freakin' 25 year old
yay
i never even knew there was such a competition...
the article was in today newspaper: http://www.todayonline.com/articles/292951.asp
and he's got another race soon

good luck bro (=

watch this fabulous dude
just because (=

i couldn't resist!

yesterday was super fun!
with a great many many many thanks to syaz and diana and the former's cousin and the latter's sister
=)

the day started with me heading out for a birthday surprise thing
i had no clue where i was going
(the only clues came in the form of "sun", "green", and "weather")

i was in the dark about the whole thing
until we reached the destination: west coast park
picnic!!!
and the rain had stopped pouring by then

a super duper satisfying lunch, and then a roll around the playground
which gave me rope burns
but exercise much needed!

and yes, i brought along my famous straw hat
but it is very useful, you know!

thanks, ya'll!

and today i got the hair fixed for free
yay!
it isn't exactly like the ones before, because of the dye-induced dryness, i think
but it's a lot more manageable and straighter

and guess what?
money has fallen into my spendthrift-y hands
$200!
from a good progress progress from mp hawazi daipi!
i have no idea what i progressed in during jc
but -hey- thanks so much!
hahaha
so i'm not as broke as i think!

anyways, anybody wanting to take driving lessons with me?
i'm a wuss, i know, for not wanting to go alone
haven't totally decided yet, though, on what vehicle i'd like to steer
my dad offered me his car if i decide to learn how to drive one
said he'd take a straight bus to work from bedok next year
i hope so!
then i'd have a car
how cool would that be?!

i watched twilight today!
i loved the fact that i was watching someone else's interpretation of twilight
but i seriously was grousing over the flow of the movie throughout the whole thing
it's directed by catherine hardwicke
and i don't think i like her shaky directing much... (i'm sorry!)
some parts were just so awkwardly placed
and the succession of scenes sometimes seemed too disconnected
and... some parts weren't fully developed
i guess as a fan and a movie-goer, twilight didn't live up to my originally very high expectations

one good point, though, were the glimpses into the private moments of bella and edward
them just talking and spending time together.
even though you don't really know what they're talking about,
you can still feel that at that moment, they're each other's most precious thing in the world

now i still can't wait for new moon!!!

robert pattinson redeemed himself in my eyes
i thought he was too ugly from the start
but his crazy chemistry with kristen stewart made him look hot
(even though i still maintain that his face is oh-so-weird)
(and his singing in "bella's lullaby" is undecipherable; he sounds stoned or drunk!)

i like kristen stewart
i like the fact that she understood bella's outwardly awkwardness
in the novel, bella was never the most social of people
nor was she supposed to be a phenomenal beauty
definitely not the bouncy chirpy kind of person that more people seem to have expected...
and again, the chemistry! sizzling!
haha

let's see, who else is left out...

rosalie: i still believe that nikki reed is not flawless enough to pull that character off

emmett: is darn hot! and totally fits the character in the novel!

jasper: jackson rathbone seemed... zombie-ish. i didn't understand it, until i realised that even being around humans in school must be hard for him

alice: is so adorable! i like her!

carlisle: he looks a bit weird; not model-ish enough? but still believable in his role

esme: really proved me wrong. i thought she wasn't motherly enough, but i now know she is

james: is pure evil hotness. too bad cam gigandet will only be in this movie

laurent: not much impression of him

victoria: wasn't evil- or powerful-looking enough. she looks so tame! and where's he flaming red hair?!

jacob black: i'm in team jacob! but i agree that taylor lautner won't be able to pull him off for new moon... not enough raw power

embry: is so freakin' cute! wayyyy cuter than jacob in this movie, at least

billy black: was born to play this role

charlie swan: is likable

eric: is... asian. typical weird dude.

mike: has beautiful eyes!

jessica: is so freaking annoying!

angela: seems nice...

tyler: barely knew who he was throughout the movie; i kept wondering who that kid who nearly hit bella was...

and that's all i can think of

hahaha

so tomorrow is rest day
thursday, i hope, will be gym day
and friday is holi-day!

happy holidays, people!
i'll be making a special occasion christmas blog skin
just because i have the perfect song for this season
(=

fin*

p.s. edward's sparkling kinda sucked!
i thought the rays would bounce off him, like a truckload of diamonds and rainbows
but he just glittered
so bleh

Sunday, December 14, 2008

the past few days have been crazy!

went gym-ing with pat on thursday, which was fun
we ventured only momentarily into the male-infested weights side of the gym, but eventually wandered back into the more female-friendly bike area
i lost my legs that night
really really sore, so much that it felt like i had somebody else's legs with me

i went to rebond my hair friday afternoon
didn't work so well; the lousy just-arrived-from-china assistant didn't put the chemical thing on my hair properly
so two-thirds (right and back) of my hair is still kinda frizzy-ish
darn
but tomorrow or tuesday, i'll go fix it with the hairdresser
i hope.

and that night, we went out!
didn't have to pay for my dinner (thanks pat!!!)
which was probably what gave me a stomachache for two days after

and joel came, even if only for a while
and gave me a balloon that i named roel

keed gave me a radiohead album, of all things
i still haven't mustered up the will to listen to it
but soon; just give me time
hahaha

so after dinner keed, dan, steph, pat and me went out,
me with the radiohead thing and steph's sunflower,
while roel was handled by keed and pat
and an incident happened which shall be kept a five-way secret forEVER!
although i did manage to do something i never thought i'd do...
but nobody else shall know of it.
nobody.
no.

anyways, dan and i slept over at pat's place
so fun
my parents should allow me to do this more often!
breakfast was a traditional coffeeshop one, with both me and pat leaving the uncooked soft-boiled eggs mostly untouched

we re-met for yiqi's birthday class surprise at holland v
(even though yiqi wasn't all that surprised, haha)
i feel really, really, sorry that a few classmates couldn't make it there
it would have been that much more fun!
and cold rock ice creamery sells rocking ice-cream!!

then dan, pat and i were off to ikea!
to shop for more room stuff by taking photos of things we like
seriously, i would happily move into any ikea store, as long as it has running water and food
seriously!
or at least, hire an ikea designer to change the designs of all my rooms every four months

lunch at outlet-galore mall, anchorpoint, where we had kfc
and then back home

and now here i am, too lazy to do anything else at home
or even change my (and even my sister's) blog skin

till next time
fin* who is officially, in more ways than one, 18 years old

p.s. do all of us really look 18 already?
cos i swear now nobody asks for our ICs anymore except at the arena on prom night
i don't think we look any different than usual
strange...

I LOVE AARON RAMSEY!

bad news #1: arsenal lost 2-0 to porto
(but they fielded a team of mostly teenagers!
aaron's 17, jack wilshere's 16, kieran gibbs is 19, mark randall is 19, i think, etcetera)

bad news #2: fabregas wants to leave arsenal
(not right now- only when his contract ends in 2014
then he wants to move back to spain and play for his barcelona)

but among all the bad news, i still love arsenal!
the youngsters may not have been cohesive together today
(and i stayed up till 5.40 just for them!)
but i caught the whiff of potential in their air

like aaron, who attempted two shots, one of which was a scissor kick, and showed some fancy footwork to retain possesion

and jack, who's not afraid to tackle, and is so fearless and confident on the pitch

belief!

i will try almost anything at least once
(unless it has something to do with eating;
then, i'm not so adventurous)

so now, the latest crazy idea that i have for post "A" levels
is skydiving!!!
yea!!!
and the perfect time and place to attempt this
is in melbourne next year
i've researched where, and how to do it there
and the price (around SGD350) is quite reasonable
i'm so excited!!

might as well put all my plans in a list:

#1- get a job paying at least $1000 monthly
#2- apply for a motorcycle license, or a double motorcycle and car license
#3- shop at ikea for all my furniture and stuff
#4- save up money to buy a dslr camera
#5- visit my cousins in melbourne for a whole month (or at least two weeks)
#6- maybe travel the rest of australia while i'm there?
#7- skydiving!!!!
#8- bungee jumping! something else i've so wanted to try since young

wow, that is a lot!
and very expensive, hence the desire for a 1k paycheck every monthly
obviously, i'm working not for the future, but for me to spend on myself
pretty hedonistic a lifestyle
but i'm still young!
i should skydive while i've still got all my teeth and gumption!

live for the day!

hmm the last post seemed very very mysterious
but it's nothing controversial at all
just the fact that i wanted more independence in the choice of furniture being used for my new bedok room
the result of which is me offering to pay for everything except for the wardrobe.

yup

no worries!

today has been filled with activities
and began with me waking up at 8 am, to pick up my new passport at ica
i waited an hour, before deciding to take a little trip to bedok
to explore, pick up three library books and have a happy meal and choc mcflurry brunch
yum!
then i rushed back down to ica (thank goodness i missed my queue number by just a few people)

the next phase of the day:
project ben and jerry's
((=
met pat at dhoby ghaut, and then accidentally met jeremy and rachel ds
and off to fort canning in the blazing heat to line up for an hour, during which it rained, and got nine scoops of the american flavours

surprisingly enough, we got sick of ice cream

watched a quartet of crazy rugby-built guys finish off twenty scoops of ice-cream in like 15 seconds
disgusting it was, watching them dig in with their hands
but hey, whatever works, right?

and now, phase three is me ooff to my uncle's house to partake in a feast in celebration of one of the most beautiful ceremonies of all time: circumcision
haha

uggh
i think i'll fall sick from food and rain...

i don't feel guilty.

SAJC Prom 2008 is officially over.
Not all pics are here.

Words to describe prom:
stiff cardboard hair
complaint-fraught (I'm sorry I was quite critical yesterday!)
Keed's shoulder pads
sexy, (probably) expensive gowns (Diana and Monique)

The Halal food, served separately, was unimpressive.
(Everyday food that my mum cooks better).

(Why do I sound so bitter?!!)
I did have fun! So much fun!
Because I was surrounded by friends,
and we were all dressed to the nines!
And there were a lot of funny moments!
Gosh, I'm such a complaint monger!
I'm sorry!

Steph, Dan, Pat and Fina

Four-inch heels?
(Haha) We could barely walk to where the Post-Prom Party was at the Arena.
(About that... we took off our heels and walked!)
Not that I could get in, being 12 days short of my 18th birthday.
Dang!
And those mega-huge bouncers were damn scary!
(And funny, the way they take ten million years to scrutinise every card)

Mok tried his hardest to work out the kinks, being organiser and all,
because both Nadrah and I were stuck outside.
(In the end I gave my ticket to Jaime)
It's okay Mok; we appreciate it!
So after Dan, Steph and Pat had drinks inside, they came back out to hang around the 17 year old.
Thanks guys, now I feel so bad!

Nothing else was open at 1 am
besides this pub with dirty jokes on a screen.
One drink for everyone
(Pat's and mine were mocktails- of course)
and we were chased out because the bar closed at 2.

A walk across the bridge,
a fruitless roam around the mini-7/11
a 4 dollar taxi ride,
and soon we were back at Furama.
(Home Sweet Home)

Our room

More pictures in Dan's camera!

Is it weird that I had more fun in the hotel room than at prom or post-prom?
Hahah
Just me, I guess.

We should have sleepovers more often!

Saturday, November 29, 2008

oh yess!
so dan got her hair cut
and steph, dan and i all found clutches today!!!

and guess what?
dan and i bought dorothy perkins clutches at 50% off for the second one
so it was only $17.25 for each of us!!
(even though we'll be using the same one)
how cheap is that?!!

and i finally sent my dress off for alterations
although now that i think back on the length, it might end up very short...
hmm
but the shop's not open tomorrow
and i'm picking it up on monday...
so i guess i'm screwed! HAHAHA!
gosh prom really stresses people out
but it's only prom what!

heh
anyways
i've got plans for this blog
new song (Sink or Swim by Tyrone Wells)
and i want to make a new skin
and other plans
mmmmmm
not gonna tell yet!

rest day tomorrow!

Thursday, November 27, 2008

okay,
dress- check!
shoes- check!
accessories- check!

hair? dunno...
hotel? clueless!
makeup? possibly settled...
clutch? haven't found one yet!!!

gosh, i'm so ashamed that i've spent so much on prom!!!
shan't say how much- it's too embarrassing!

so today pat dan keed joel jerrald and i went to sentosa!
with the mounds of food that pat and i (and my sis) prepared at my house
we played HSM3 UNO! which pat and i found at toys r' us - zac's so hot!!
and we dunked keed into the sea!

we caught a movie at vivo
after lunch at BK
four christmases
i liked the movie
despite falling asleep near the end during vince vaughn's speech

and then we just... split
we stood around after the movie ended
after everybody'd gone to the toilet
and just split
thought the guys were going to the mrt station
dan pat and i waited around near the escalators of the basement
but we didn't see any of the guys

so we went home via 143 and 963
one hour fifteen minutes?
not too shabby
lots to discuss
school, work, fun, friends...

fin*

p.s. sometimes i just ask: why?
people would say "why not?"
but i don't think that's valid
unjustified

Tuesday, November 25, 2008

gosh my feet hurt so much!

the good news is that i found a nice black dress at central yesterday
i would have thought black was blah, but it's different in the sense that it has a sort of tuxedo-ish feel due to the cropped jacket, and the ruffled neck
hmm
so at least i'll be unique
stuffy-looking, but unique

bad news is that now there's a mad scramble to find the shoes, clutch and accessories to match!
so today (monday) pat and i trawled through
city link mall, marina square, suntec city,
and every shopping mall between orchard mrt station and dhoby ghaut mrt station
that had anything affordable

and
nearly killed ourselves in the process!
because we just kept walking and walking and walking
in flats that hurt the feet (well, mine, at least)

i found this superbly high peep-toe pumps in burgundy with gold heels at charles and keith
around 10 cm high heels
so so sexy!!
but it totally stretches out and arches my feet to the max
and i could hardly walk because it hurt my thigh and calf muscles to try and control the shoes
egghh so unlucky
i could only totter with small steps slowly

and the only other acceptable looking shoes were at aldo
but IMHO ridiculously expensive at $155
because i won't be wearing the shoes so often

so i'm stuck between paying a high price
or breaking my feet
who knows, maybe (hopefully) i'll find nicer shoes somewhere outside orchard road

so now my feet still hurt after all that shopping
that my big toe is numb!
seriously! even after i've soaked my feet in hot/warm water

shoes shoes shoes! where art thou, perfect shoes?

fin*

with the wretched 'A's over and all, it seems i've had little inclination to blog
hmm
i suppose there's the lack of steam to blow off...

but anyways: 'A's ARE BLOODY OVER!!!!!
YAAAAYYYYYYY!!!!

after the last lit paper yesterday
pat, liying and i met tongni (pat's friend) at orchard
and had lunch at shaw house
before tongni, pat and i headed to far east plaza to prom dress-shop

there was this cute dress that we saw
red satin bust area, with a small bow in front
while below the bust downwards is an argyle-ish fabric of muted red, brown and i-have-no-idea-what-colour
so cute
but guess what the price is...

...$189! really!
even with $200 to blow on a dress, i don't want to spend that much money on just ONE dress
so i let it slide...

then we suddenly found the place where pat was supposed to have her hair appointment
and -voila!- four hours later, pretty hair on pat!
and the colour's so pretty!

and this morning was danielle's hair's turn for some TLC
pat and i met her at the salon
and then met pebbles and torres/ baby gangsta (hahaha!) in their respective enclosures
torres/baby gangsta is so fat!
and pebbles is so small and cute!

which reminds me of an item on ebay for sale
a taxidermy hamster on a small bicycle:
like eww! who would actually buy a dead stuffed hamster??!!
but apparently someone would... boy am i perplexed by the world!

well, after finally tasting chocolate mcflurry (super yum!) at macs with dan and pat
i went to get my hair dyed!!!
and it's reddish!! not really purple, which i now don't mind
but i'm glad my dad didn't freak when he saw how light the red was
phew!
and it's supposed to get lighter after a few washes and rebonding
haha
then i'll be a true blue pai kia! or something!
hahaha

fin*!!!!

Tuesday, November 18, 2008

just got back from a day out with the fam
and i am so happy with my new l'oreal double extension waterproof mascara!
i tested it as soon as i got home, and wiped water all over my face and especially the eyes
and no smudging happened!
wee!

before this i was using the maybelline xxl one
it was good, but it's my sister's
so i had to shop for a new one
and now i'm happy!
now, if only i could trick my parents into buying me new blusher and foundation...
and maybe even gold eyeliner! and how about purple mascara to match my desired purple hair?
haha
lots to do...

and i managed to find a new book for me to read
cold plague by daniel kalla
sounds interesting, about a conspiracy behind the spreading of a disease
and it's quite recent; only published this year
can't wait to start!
as soon as i'm done with the wretched last paper

which reminds me
that besides the annotating of fasting, feasting that i did at the airport last saturday
i haven't done much else
don't really feel like it
but i've no choice
hopefully i'll start tonight...

see ya'll other poor losers in school tomorrow!
because we're being bloody dragged to school
for something i'm pretty certain will be like other lectures that i didn't learn much from

fin*

post-second-last-paper has been so fun!!!
besides all the going out i did on friday and saturday,
i spent yesterday learning how to use the sewing machine, and making a vest from an old unused long-sleeved tee

and today i went to bugis topone (i think it's called), which is the one i'm used to
with pat, liying, jeremy, zong ze, shauna, bong, rachel tan and eilania
it was so fun!
unlike any other outings i've had before
because this time wasn't focused on the emo
but on the crazy, sugar-high kind,
like britney spears and pussycat dolls
and i finally got to hear shauna, bong and eilania sing!
so far the best group i've been with
haha
which is understandable considering that this time
keed's "staying alive" and "10 little indians" were missing
hahaha

and then we went to watch madagascar which was funny and sad and heartwarming all at once
awww
while eating long john's silver chicken in the dark with pat
and chucking the containers under the seats
(sorry cleaners! yep, it was us!)

after which, we witnessed jeremy in his domain!
the king of bugis arcade!
never losing a game on that 50cent credit he used
so zai (is that the spelling?) he was that he got tired of winning
and just left the game
hahaha

oh man
hope more days like this come up soon!
life really does start after 'a's!

fin*

Sunday, November 16, 2008

the past two days have been uber fun!!

on friday, dan, pat and i went to vivo
pizza hut lunch (student meal cheapos!!!), HSM3 movie, and shopping around vivo and plaza sing and cathay
(troy troy troy = hot!)

and today, pat and i totally walked out of mrs tan lecture
granted, we had 15 minutes to go before it started
but mrs tan saw us, and we'd already walked in
however, seeing that there were so few people, we just turned and walked out
hahaha
no remorse
then we called up dan who was at home to go out with us for breakfast
before meeting dan's mum to go prom dress-looking everywhere!

then we separated at esplanade
dan and mum went home, i think
and pat went to meet her mum
and i was trying to make (what i thought was) the 3pm check in time of my mecca-bound relatives at changi

and then when i got there, my mum called and said they were only leaving at 5.30
which left me with 2 and a half hours to burn

so i, equipped with a large coke and 'fasting, feasting', sat in the arrival hall of terminal 1
which is sooooo much more interesting than the departure hall
and people-watched/ studied!
it was kinda fun, just me and my music-blasting earphones
trying to guess what people's occupations were
and covering up my awe of tall stunning stewardesses and dashing pilots

after finally sending my relatives off,
we had dinner at bedok
and went to the singapore flyer
yesss!!!
finally!!
and it was fun! all 26 of us relatives in one capsule

yep, that has been the gist of post-exam life
except for the paranoia of waking up in the warning thinking i still had exams...

okay, technically not, but i don't care!
yesssssssss

and here's a beautiful dress i simply adore
just because a levels are over for meeeee!!!!!

although,
did you hear about the zoo cleaner who was killed by the three white tigers in the singapore zoo?
really sad
visitors and co-workers had to see him get mauled at 12.15 today
and he wasn't even supposed to be in the tigers' moat!
he supposed to be cleaning another exhibition!
poor guy!
imagine the shock and pain of being mauled by three tigers...

really sad.

presenting aaron smith!
just because ;)

seriously, the song is nice
the voice, however... i shall let speak for itself

and since joel likes brendan james singing "green"
(the song that i first used when i changed the blogskin to this orange one)
here's him singing live!
i love brendan james!
for other brendan james songs, go to his myspace (:

i went for the movie
and ended up wasting seven and a half irretrievable hours of my life -_-'
it's easy to overlook the fact that time is wasted getting ready, traveling there, queuing up for the free food, traveling back, etc etc...

BUT i did find the movie enjoyable
even though (due to us not being early) we sat so close to the screen - third row - that my eyes hurt

this bond may not have the posh, handsome looks of the past 007s
you might call him ugly, even
but let me tell ya,
he's the sexiest ugly dude i've ever seen!
seriously, this dude is the hottest shit in the world!
he's da bomb! in fact, he's da sexbomb!

haha
okay, i felt my iq drop a few hundred points there

anyways, the 'a' levels aren't the only things that fate is screwing around with
it appears this is the season for messed up events
and arsenal's results are testament to that!
we lost three games before tonight, all against super lousy teams
and just when you'd think that arsenal's doomed since they're facing man utd who are "flying high" right now
they go on and beat those bastards
how gnarly is that?
2-1! we beat man utd 2-1!
and it was actually 2-0 at the 70th minute mark, which was the last time i saw them
and nasri scored both! woohoo!
i love nasri!

something else about arsenal:
we've got the queen of england as our supporter!
and that's not all
you'll never guess who else
but just make one, for fun
obama? no, he's a west ham guy
mccain? no, i have no idea about him
give up?
alright
it's...

osama bin laden!
gosh, that scared me, truly
but now you know never to mess with us...
the queen and the evillest person alive both on our side
mua-ha-ha

(but seriously, osama = eww...)

and to put joel out of his misery,
since he's gone through hell this week because of the 'A's (poor boy)
this is the official pronunciation of my full name, Syarafina binte Abdul Halim:
shah-rah-fee-nah bin-tea ahb-dool haa-lame/leem

it doesn't look that pretty in that form
but waddaheck?

fin*

p.s.
told pat i'd post the youtube vid of this guy who sings horribly
simply, HORRIBLY

i don't have anything against jane austen, but what mark twain said of her books is too funny to keep to myself:

'Jane Austen's books, too, are absent from this library. Just that one omission alone would make a fairly good library out of a library that hadn't a book in it.' — Mark Twain

why does it feel like the 'a' levels are going on only when i'm in the exam hall?
it's so hard for me to concentrate on studies all day, everyday,
when people at home keep interrupting me with this and that
i study better when everybody leaves me alone
at two o'clock in the morning...

and during the day,
life's still going on around me
and let me tell ya, life is interesting!
it feels a shame to have to miss out on it...

like free tickets to watch quantum of solace on saturday!
should i go or not?
it'd be such a waste either way...

i do hope all the freaking out that has been going on is just due to exam stress
because i'd hate for it to be permanent

fin*

(killer... killers!)

just spent the day studying at pat's house
we had lunch at pizzahut and continued post-'a's planning
fun! and we had tim tams!

i kept falling asleep while reading econs on pat's bed
... i'm such a noob ...
haha

(i want a license plate that reads:
SXD 8D
just so i can have two smileys on it!)

my word, i only realised today how stressed joel must be
papers almost everyday of this week
with only a break on wednesday!
and he still has papers next monday through wednesday too
poor him!

which reminds me i need to continue to mug today
nap for one hour now
then study till america's next top model for an hour break
then trudge on with the mugging!
and it's not because i'm extremely hardworking,
it's only because i've been finding it extremely hard to study during the day
so i must make up for it at night!
i must!

fin*

motto: now we must mug like the paper's tomorrow!
so later we can party like there's no tomorrow!

i like this dress!

haha another post so soon
but i'm just so excited by the prospect of an Obama-led america

and i think it's a testament to the great belief that Obama ignites in people's hearts
that not just democrat americans are celebrating his win
but also people all over the world!

and in his speech he addressed the win
as a win for the american people as a whole
he rarely talked about him personally
it was all about a collective american effort
which is exactly how i envision a great president to be

he also addressed those who were overseas and watching the US elections
like us!
which just goes to show how aware he is that america does not stand alone in its actions
and that he, as future president, has a huge responsibility to the citizens of the world

and i started crying when i saw the whole obama family together on stage
because them being the new first family
is just so exciting!!!

don't they look like the perfect first family?!

i'm just so relieved that palin is out!
for america's sake, and for ours!
phew!

fin*

watch the speech if you haven't seen it yet!
it's a superb example of how powerful words can be!

Are You More Qualified than Sarah Palin?

You are 92% more qualified than Sarah Palin. You're no short-term political stunt, you're the real deal, the VP the American people deserve. I guess your phone was off the hook when John McCain was calling around looking for a running mate... must've been one of those pesky robo-calls.

Find Your Character @ BrainFall.com

obama won!
and his speech was... simply breathtaking and so, so inspiring.

at the time i'm blogging, he's won 338 electoral votes
to mccain's 156
when only 270 are needed for a candidate to win presidency
and they still haven't included a few states like hawaii and indiana!

and kenya is celebrating by announcing that thursday will be a national holiday!!

feels like such a defining moment in history! i'm glad i got to watch it!

the maths paper was a killer!!!
and i may adore the killers, but this sort i cannot tolerate!
eugghhh...

pat and i took 966 home from school today
but we took it the whole loop!
so it was an hour and a half at least,
due to the blasted traffic jams

it wasn't so bad though
we did get to discuss the not-so-very-distant post-a level future!
weee!
like the sleepovers and movie watching and post-prom -
just the respite i needed after the massacre that was maths

... if anybody found the paper easy, keep it to yourself!
i certainly do not want to hear it!
don't say it!!!!
so demoralising!!! T_T
and don't get you panties in a twist about what i can or cannot tell people on my blog
it's my blog! i'm in control!
me! ME!!!

okay
tension's out.
eh.
maths just sucks.
so does cambridge for screwing us over.
boohoohoo! leave me in peace while i cry out my desolateness!

haha
so melodramatic.
okay then
see ya'll!

p.s. just to cheer up the womenfolk,

Sunday, November 02, 2008

gosh, i just realised where ms k's phrase "hand on my heart" came from!!
it's from celine dion!! in her song "immortality"

there's a line that says "Hand over my heart I'll find my way"
!!!
haha
random...

all the best to everybody for gp tomorrow!
may we get the stellar results we always get for school gp papers ;)

Today's Fact:

More Than 12,000 Women Are Killed Each Year In Russia As A Result Of Domestic Violence

that's one every 43 minutes. not that i calculated. but it's frequency is so upsetting...

and now, since GP is freakin' tmr (!!!), the last ever of
2 useless facts:

#1- the original story from "tales of 1001 arabian nights" began with "aladdin was a little chinese boy"

haha little chinese boy... how misleading the disney version was!

#2- long ago (i don't know how long... g. washington's time?), paintings were charged based on how many limbs you wanted the painter to include in the portrait, from which came the saying "it will cost you an arm and a leg", cos they were so expensive!

and that concludes the series. thanks for reading ya'll! maybe i should include "useful cold war facts" next...

fin*

p.s. it has come to my attention that one of my very good friends has been scolded for some of the barbs that were part of the more recent posts. now, i don't get why she's being blamed, because my opinions were formulated with myself as a first-person observer, so that scolding was grossly unjustified. i wish for nothing more than a peaceful end to whatever's going on, but right now my mood reads "annoyed as hell", so we'll just have to wait and see.

but really, it is not fina's natural vice to hate. uggh. world peace, man! world peace! (and this can apply to anybody in any tense dealings; just a general rule that usually keeps situations calm) treat people with respect, like how you wish that person would treat you (darn cliched, but that's because it's true), and learn to compromise. then the world will be a better place!

I'm such a laptop noob
cos i'm using my bro's laptop right now
and i'm slow!!!

Today's Fact:
Landmines Kill Or Maim At least One Person Every Hour

which you can use when you're doing an essay on war and stuff like that

2 useless facts:

#1- US dollar bills are made of cotton and linen

wow, really? so you could literally make clothes out of sewn-together dollar bills?
that's so wicked!

#2- in ancient rome, when a man testified in court he swore on his testicles

hahahahahahahahahaha
omg imagine how many people i know that would have lost BOTH testicles by now!

fin*

gosh maths is just killing me...

Today's Fact:
In 2001, 13.2 Million Americans Had Some Form Of Plastic Surgery.

just in case you wanna do an essay on artificial beauty, or love, or something

2 useless facts:

#1- Beetles Taste Like Apples, Wasps Like Pine Nuts, And Worms Like Fried Bacon.

this is good to know if hunger strikes while you're stranded in thailand...

#2- Queen Elizabeth I regarded herself as a paragon of cleanliness. She declared that she bathed once every three months, whether she needed it or not.

which is maybe why she's the virgin queen... nobody wanted to touch her!

fin*

p.s. history just... bleargh
i dreamt about vomiting whenever this other kid vomited
and kawmoora and manerplaw kept repeating in my mind throughout the night

childish, insolent people just get on my nerves.

Today's Fact:
Two million girls and women are subjected to female genital mutilation each year.

ouch... but thankfully the prevalence of such practices, mostly in africa, are going down, albeit slowly, from 95% in 1995 to 89% in 2002

and how could i sign off without the usual
2 useless facts:

#1- Millie the White House dog earned more than 4 times as much as President Bush in 1991.

hahaha... apparently Millie published a book which earned her 540,000 pounds...

#2- rocks can grow!

omgosh! breaking news! but you still can't observe it. it grows only 1 millimeter every 1 million years...

ta!

[EDIT: I realised that i forgot to type in "porn"...]

Today's Fact:
Every Year, America Spends $10 Billion On Pornography, The Same Amount It Spends On Foreign Aid

which is... such a waste of money!!!

2 useless facts:

#1- Research indicates that mosquitoes are attracted to people who have recently eaten bananas.

Err... i guess that's good to know for future camping...

#2- The first known contraceptive was crocodile dung, used by Egyptians in 2000 B.C.

...which makes it a wonder how Cleopatra had only four children even after all that copulation...
eeuugghhh...

fin*

p.s. did i mention, cleopatra's not even egyptian? before her, over 300 years of her family's rulers never knew how to speak egyptian. she was the first one.

oh yea, and here's a new word i learnt from pat
and it describes what goes in at the malaysian-thai border that causes bilateral tension:

Today's Fact:
Every Week, An Average Of 88 Children Are Expelled From American Schools For Bringing A Gun To Class.

and of course,
2 useless facts:

#1- It was discovered on a space mission that a frog can throw up. The frog throws up its stomach first, so the stomach is dangling out of its mouth. The frog then uses its forearms to dig out all of the stomach's contents and then swallows the stomach back down again.

uggh.

#2- 111,111,111 x 111,111,111 = 123,456,78,987,654,321

how cool is that?!

omg omg omg
i doubt there's much time to go prom dress-shopping after A levels are done!
so i've been shopping around online
not that i'd buy anything so soon though...
but...

how cute is this dress?! haha
it's a vintage, circa 1950s or so
i saw it a vintageous.com
but a lot of the nicer dresses there are already sold
i think the most expensive dress i saw there was about $1k?
i think it's either oscar de la renta or sarmi or chanel
but it's a great place for ideas if you're getting a tailor

anyways, GP is next week
so i thought i'd post a fact here everyday
for us to impress the examiners with (:

today's fact:

another post; less indignant than the last. heheh.

Anyways, the Caesar of our imagination is hot. Mainly because he's young.
But if you see the depictions of him in statues and coins...
well, maybe it depends on your taste in men, but I don't think his looks could come close to o'erflowing the measure.

I'm not going to post pictures of his coins, because he's ugly on them. Maybe because coin-engraving technology was not so advanced then.

But since statues are much more accurate, that's how we'll judge his looks.
Ready? Let's go!:

Statue #1
He looks tall... muscular kind of big...
a passable face, maybe too strong a jaw...
his poor ears stick out a tad too much...
and we've got to do something about the nose...
otherwise, not up to par, but acceptable.

Statue#2
This one... ergh...
no body, so we can't judge the hawtness of the bod...
the chin is a leetle too fat... saggy cheeks too...
bulbous nose... fat cheeks...
ergh, sorry Dan, this Caesar's not hot.

Statue #3
Finally, Bachelor number 3. He's better looking than number 2, fer sher.
Okay chin... are those high cheekbones that I detect?...
straight nose, not bad... can't judge the ears though...
good, strong forehead, and the hair looks acceptable for a time when gel wasn't yet invented.
All in all, okay features, although to put them together may not be ideal.

Conclusion:
Caesar is not hot. But I guess that's what imaginations are for (:

fin*
btw, i kinda like Lepidus! Poor guy was probably too soft for his own good.
Lucky guy got to die peacefully at around 77 years old,
which is more than I could ask for in a world where Antony killed himself and Octavius Caesar was evil.

bleh. now that i've actually done the paper, and deliberately tried to fail, i guess mock papers are not too bad.
guess i don't hate k so much now.

but i do hate the westboro baptist church!
i don't even think they're christian. (they're even condemned by mainstream baptist churches!)

they're hater-mongers! they're legally recognised as a hate group in the us!
they hate roman catholics, jews, muslims and gays- basically everyone else!
and they hate the chinese, mexicans, americans, british, swedes, canadians and irish!

but worst of all, they picket funerals of dead soldiers who came back from iraq.
their funerals! with signs that say "thank god for dead soldiers"!
how could they?! that's so mean! and evil!
and even the funerals of homosexual victims of murder!

they're eeevvvviiilllll, i tell ya. evil!
the vilest, most evil abomination ever!

i really am grateful to counter-protesters who chase them away or shield the community from these leeches.
really.

i hate hateful haters!
and i guess i was a hater when i hated k. hand on my heart, my apologies.
but i really, really, really want to kill these people. *censored* hate-mongers!. ugh.

oh. my. gosh.
palin is the dumbest nitwit on earth!
and i'm sorry, keed, for comparing you to her, but she's even dumber than you!
and that's saying a LOT!

i know the whole of today, i've been saying "in what rresspeck, charrliee?" to imitate her silly interview
but watching more of such interviews online gives me a sense of hopelessness
like, i canNOT believe there are people out there who actually believe in her, and think she can help run the country!
what is going to happen to this world?!

let's look at it this way:
assuming mccain becomes president (and i hope not!)
if and when he dies (because he's ancient)
palin will take over as commander in chief
and she will run the u.s. of a!
and the rest of the world will die!
because i honestly believe she's worse than even bush!
obama, help us!!!

yup, this is it.
one of many infamous interviews
sealing her notorious stupidity in just a few badly chosen words
this one's with charlie, or charles gibson, on september 11 2008.
she sucks.

and this is a collection of many stupid answers.
it's a longer video
and it also includes the "in what rresspeck, charrliee?" interview
haha.

my gosh, watching palin is such stupefying entertainment.
but so funny!

anyways
pat and i came late for the econs lecture at 10
and then after an hour and 20 minutes of being restless
we walked through the rain to eat at macs
keed and jerrald got completely wet
so joel was happily left with the purple gay umbrella
while pat and i shared jerrald's umbrella

oh yea, pat finally climbed the rope thing!
congrats!

and then we went back to the school library to study
before taking a break at three
to go drink teh ping and milo
and goof around in LT1

and then i went home
and left my phone in the car
i'm too lazy to get it now (at 5.50 pm)
so if i reply messages really late
now you know why

announcement: i'm not going for econs mock papers
just postmortem
alright!

p.s. i think i was super irritating to joe well today
not sure i regret it though
